Bombers-Dragons Trade

The inaugural trade of the UKFL was announced this morning, as highly rated RB Daniel Branch moved across the North Sea for two talented defencemen in LB William Jennings and DT Robert Anthony.

Asked for a comment, general manager of the Dragons, OmarLittle had this to say, "No I don't have time to comment, have you seen the shit that we've been given on our rosters? I'll be working day and night to achieve something that a monkey might have managed to draft"

Bombers GM Gerryscore was unavailable for comment, but no doubt feels the same.

Regardless, it will be a busy few months ahead for all of the GMs of UKFL teams, as they strive to ready their teams for the challenge of being the first UKFL champions.

pjburrage Storms Out

pjburrage saw red last night and angrily cut short his pre-Draft Day 4 press conference. The Welwyn Warriors head coach was riled by a question about being pipped to the post by Glasgow Claymores to the signature of Andrea Broadway.

“Silly question, gets no answer,” Ferguson said. “I’m at a press conference about the possible signings I'm to make today. Not talk about would've, could've or should've. Good day.” The Warriors head coach then left the room.

Earlier, pjburrage had, indeed, seemed happy to discuss his side’s recent draft acquisitions. It is a favourite cliché of head coaches to stress that the next few days are always the most important. However, whichever way pjburrage might try to spin it, it was hard to escape the feeling that the loss of Andrea Broadway could seriously dent the Warriors chances of fielding a strong O-line, with Tackles in very high demand.

Cohen Has Two Agendas

GLASGOW -- Glasgow's latest player to sign James Cohen says he has two responsibilities in the UKFL's inaugural season/

The first, win.

The second, do it in style.

The first game of the season for Claymores is against the Sunderland Thunder in Week 2, having the BYE in the opening round.

"It could be the time that the other teams take notice of not only me, but the Glasgow Claymores" Cohen said.

"And we see that as our responsibility to play best football that we can play, and show the skills that we've got, and hopefully surprise a few people."

Fellow Claymores player Chad Sullivan concurred.

"There is no bigger stage than the UKFL in Britain" Sullivan said.

"It's obviously fantastic for us to have the opportunity ... it's really important we put on a good show, and show how far American Football has come in Britain."

With only two players signed for the Claymores so far, many seem bemused about the statements when no team has any clear strategy as of now.

"It is quite amusing" said Ayr Anarchy Coach, HD.

"They are one of our biggest rivals, and they are already trash talking. Lets wait and see how this draft pans out first".

Runningback James Cohen doesn't think they have anything to worry about.

"The squad is building up nicely, everyone is fit and playing well," Cohen said.

"We have a lot of faith in our Coach Julz, and I am sure he will bring in some great players.

"We need to stick to our game ... I think we should be looking to build a fast team that can sucker punch the opposition when they're down. We need some shrewd moves by our coach to make it happen".

Arthur Burr (PET) goes #1 overall!

NEW YORK -- The Peterborough Panthers drafted Arthur Burr #1 overall in the 2010 draft. The 6' 1" QB fits the team's needs perfectly. Said Panthers general manager: "It's up to us to develop him and get good players around him."

"The great thing about the game of football is, it's a team game," Burr said on a conference call. "I'm just going to be one piece of the puzzle."
